Eaton opens Austin plant
Eaton's semiconductor equipment operations division has expanded its activities in Austin, TX, with the opening of a 165,000-sq-ft facility for manufacturing medium-current implanters. The $15-million plant houses cleanroom manufacturing space, demonstration facilities, and applications laboratories. The Beverly, MAbased supplier will move the operations of the division's original plant, which was opened in 1979, to the new building.
Fujikin to boost U.S. biz
Fujikin of America will quadruple manufacturing capacity in 1997 with the relocation of its U.S. subsidary to a larger plant in Connecticut. The subsidiary, Carten Controls, has been moved to a 66,000-sq-ft facility in Cheshire, where it will serve as a major production site for Fujikin's ultra-high-purity valves and fittings. The Japanese vendor says U.S. sales have increased 10 times over the past 3 years.
BOC grows in Northwest
BOC Gases plans to build a $20-million air-separation plant and liquefier in the Portland/Vancouver area, continuing the company's expansion in the Pacific Northwest. Scheduled to open in 1998, the facility will produce 350 tn of liquid oxygen, nitrogen, and argon daily. BOC notes that the demand for atmospheric gases in the region has been fueled in large part by growth in the electronics and semiconductor industry. The New Jerseybased industrial gases supplier has already invested more than $100 million in the region over the past three years, including $30 million for a UHP-nitrogen pipeline.
