UTI names Sharp president; Novak leaves TI for Radian; Hauser takes FPD post at CFM Technologies; MRC's Gilman honored by ASM International
Reuben Richards has replaced Norman Schumakeras CEO of Emcore, following the latter's resignation. Schumaker, a cofounder of the New Jerseybased deposition equipment vendor, most recently served as CEO and chairman of the board. Richards was the company's president and COO. . . . MKS Instruments has named Werner Sharp president of UTI, a subsidiary that manufactures gas analysis systems. Sharp comes to UTI from Leybold Inficon, where he was vp of R&D. . . . Eric Newton has been appointed vp and gm of the thin film products group at Genus. The new director of strategic accounts is Travis Gray.
Cybeq Nano Technologies has appointed Yoshio Nishino chairman, CEO, and acting COO. Based in San Jose, the company makes polishers for CMP processes. . . . Kerry Kiser has been appointed to the new position of 300-mm program manager at Fluoroware. Before joining the supplier of materials-management products, Kiser was the lead engineer for 300-mm fab design at Intel. . . . Marc Godat is the new gm for European operations at PRI Automation. He will be based at PRI's European headquarters in Grenoble, France. The company also appointed Robert Mulcahy director of finance for its tool automation systems division.
Daniel Smith was promoted to vp at Fullman Co., a mechanical contractor based in Portland, OR. Smith has managed projects for chipmakers such as Intel and Hewlett-Packard. . . . Johnson Matthey has appointed Michael Cleare president and managing director of its electronic materials division. He served most recently as president and managing director of the company's catalytic systems unit. . . . Peter Cope has been promoted to group vp at Pall, the supplier of filtration and separations equipment and services based in East Hills, NY. . . . Larry Novak has joined Radian International in Austin, TX, as vp and electronics sector manager. He is the former director, worldwide EH&S at Texas Instruments. He also served as the Sematech program manager in the manufacturing science and technology center for TI's semiconductor group. . . . Solid State Measurements of Pittsburgh has appointed Blake Wotring vp, operations. . . . Eric Branch has been named business manager, process chemicals, by Olin Microelectronic Materials. He most recently served as business director of Olin's diffusion systems and equipment business. Joining the supplier as business manager, diffusion systems, is Ellen Greenhorn, the former business development manager for the electronics market sector of BOC Gases.
Trebor International of West Jordan, UT, has appointed Gary Starr director of manufacturing for the maker of chemical pumps and DI-water heaters. . . . Peter Hauser has departed Watkins-Johnson to join CFM Technologies as vp of global marketing and operations for FPD equipment. . . . ChemWest Systems named Neil Berglund to its board of directors. Berglund is president of Northwest Technology Group, a high-tech consultancy. He is also a professor in the electrical engineering and management technology departments at the Oregon Institute of Science and Technology and a consulting professor at Stanford.
ASM International, the Materials Information Society, presented a fellow award to Paul Gilman for his contributions to materials science and for the development of rapidly solidified and mechanically alloyed thin films. Gilman is the director of technology for the advanced materials division of Materials Research Corp. . . . Kinetico has promoted George Sendrey to technical specialist in its engineered systems division. Sendrey previously worked in the Newbury, OHheadquarters as a laboratory scientist in R&D. . . . Neil Lehman is the new demand manager of engineering polymers for Elf Atochem North America, a subsidiary of Elf Aquitaine of Paris. Lehman was project manager for market development prior to the appointment. . . . Comdisco Electronics Group has hired Chan Hee Mun for the position of equipment account manager. He will be based in the company's Singapore office.
Brian Foucher has relocated to take on the position of West Coast manager for Agema Infrared Systems. Before joining the staff in the San Francisco Bay area, Foucher worked at Rotec Sales, the company's technical representative in New England. He will oversee sales of Agema's infrared condition monitoring and R&D products. . . . Two new faces have joined the semiconductor sales team at Greene, Tweed & Co.: David Johnson becomes the sales representative in the southwestern United States, while Paul Zamprelli has been assigned to New Mexico, Utah, Idaho, and Montana. . . . Wyko has named Wayne Mozer sales and applications engineer for the company's eastern regional division.
