Norton taps Walsh; Savarese appointed to AG board; Ionics promotes Carson; Wang leaves Lam, joins YieldUP; McEntee migrates to Mattson

Norton Performance Plastics has appointed industry veteran George Walsh president and COO. Walsh joins the Wayne, NJ—based specialty plastics supplier from 3M, where he had worked for nearly 30 years. Most recently Walsh was the business unit director for 3M's masking and packaging systems division. . . . AG Associates has appointed Joseph Savarese to its board of directors following the resignation of John Moore. Savarese is vp of business development at Electroglas. . . . T. J. Rodgers has resigned from the board of directors of Vitesse Semiconductor after serving more than 10 years. Rodgers is president and CEO of Cypress Semiconductor.

Robert Oakley has joined the board of directors of TMT. He is executive vp of Comprehensive Development Services and formerly was president and CEO of Advantest America. . . . Michael George and James Fletcher have been appointed to the board of directors of Triant Technologies. George is the senior director of strategic business development at Applied Materials; Fletcher is president of Northwest Venture Developments. . . . MRS Technology has elected Paul Wiefels to its board. He is a founding partner of The Chasm Group, a strategy development consulting firm in San Mateo, CA.

International Sematech has appointed George Casey associate director of lithography. Casey began his Sematech assignment in 1995 as associate director of materials and bulk processes. He also has been the interconnect chemical mechanical planarization program manager. Before joining the consortium he was the litho module manager for AMD's Fab 14.

Stephen Wright has been appointed president and CEO for the semiconductor division of NuPure. His background includes work at Varian Associates and VG Instruments. . . . Bob Coo joins Camstar Systems as CFO. . . . Hydrolab has appointed Jeff Parke president and CEO. Parke was the former vp of operations at sister company GLI International. . . . Donald Lex has been promoted to vp of sales
and marketing at GLI
International.

Materials Research Corporation (MRC) has named Rodrick Cross vp of strategic operations. Cross comes to MRC from Hewlett-Packard, where he held sales and marketing management positions. . . . Ionics has promoted William Carson to vp of research and development. Carson is the company's former chief technologist. Bernard Mack is the new director of appied technology at Ionics. He has worked for the company since 1978.
. . . Soitec has appointed Emmanuel Arène director of operations. He joins the Grenoble, France— based silicon-on-insulator supplier from Silmag.

TeraStor has appointed Louie Llamas vp of sales. He joins the company from Western Digital. . . . Frank Emery has been promoted to vp of corporate planning and communications at Watkins-Johnson. . . . SVG has named John Shamaly vp of corporate marketing. In SVG's lithography division, Daniel Fleming replaces Shamaly as vp of technology and customer support, and Daniel Cote replaces Fleming as vp of engineering. . . . James Healy has joined FormFactor as vp of corporate marketing and gm of the vendor's wafer-level, back-end business unit. Healy previously was CEO and president of Genus.

Nick Bright joins Lam Research as vp of engineering. He previously was an engineering vp at Applied Materials. Also joining Lam is David Bayly, who has been named vp of sales and field service, North America and Europe. Lam also has appointed David Hemker senior director of new product development. . . . Nikon has made several appointments in its microelectronics systems department. Hirobumi Kusaka has been named department manager. He is the vendor's former gm of product planning. John Rowan has been tabbed assistant department manager, and Hank Mallin has been appointed sales engineer for the Northeast region.

Justin Wang has left Lam Research to join YieldUP as director of technical marketing. . . . Graphite Die Mold has appointed Peter Ruopp manager of technology. He is the company's former manager of purification and coatings. . . . Timothy McEntee joins Mattson Technology as senior product manager of CVD products. He previously worked at Lam Research, Varian, and Machine Technology.

Tru-Si Technologies has appointed Vada Dean director of sales and marketing. Before joining Tru-Si, he was a sales and product manager at Disco Hi-Tec. . . . CirQon Technologies has tabbed Mark Sullivan director of marketing and development. . . . Rudolph Technologies has named John Abbis director of sales for the Western U.S. region. He is the former vp of sales and marketing at n&k Technology. . . . Jan Jensen has been appointed director of marketing communications at Electroglas. She joins the company from GaSonics International, where she was a marketing communications manager.
