Glaze leaves SIA for lab consortium; Ryde named president of TSMC-USA; Rex takes Talon COO slot; Philips taps Hanselman; Dickson returns to In-Stat

Richard Faubert has been elected president and CEO of SpeedFam International. He joins the manufacturer of CMP systems from Tektronix, where he was vp and gm of the TV and communications test equipment business in the measurement division. Makoto Kouzuma, president and CEO since 1997, was elected vice chairman of SpeedFam's board of directors. In other appointments, the company named Tom Tucker senior vp, technology and development, and selected Gregory Shepard as senior vp of sales and marketing for the semiconductor group. . . . James Glaze has resigned his post at SIA to become executive director of the Virtual National Laboratory, a consortium of three national laboratories. Glaze was vp of technology programs for SIA. The consortium was established in 1996 to focus on developing extreme ultraviolet lithography. Intel, Motorola, and AMD are collaborating on the project.

The former vp of worldwide field operations at KLA-Tencor has been named president of TSMC-USA in San Jose. Magnus Ryde succeeds Ron Norris as president of the Taiwanese foundry's U.S. operations. Norris was named senior vp of worldwide marketing and sales for TSMC. He will be based at the company's headquarters in Hsin-Chu. . . . The new president and CEO of Rodel is Tony Khouri. Khouri joined Rodel in 1997 as vp of corporate marketing. The manufacturer of CMP consumable products made three additional appointments. Scott Loncki was named vp and gm of the CMP business unit, and Daniel Koharko was appointed vp and gm of disk, silicon, and glass business. Joan Koppenbrink was named vp of corporate marketing.

Automation equipment manufacturer Jenoptik Infab has appointed Wolfgang Mayr, a former executive of Siemens, as president and CEO. . . . Dennis Rex is the new COO of Talon Engineering. He comes to the company from Insync Systems, where he was vp of technology. Talon builds gas control components and plans to tap Rex's expertise in order to offer engineering solutions for gas delivery systems. . . . Fullman-Kinetics of Portland, OR, promoted Perry Shinn to senior vp. Pat Larson was named vp for the mechanical contractor, while Mark Daskalos and Ken Scrivner were promoted to operations managers. . . . Robert Geiselman has been appointed the first gm of Osmonics in Minnetonka, MN. The plant is the largest one operated by the manufacturer of water purification and fluid filtration equipment.

Richard Merluzzi is the new gm of Edlon-PSI. . . . John Hanselman was named director semiconductor— USA and gm of Philips Analytical—Boston following the purchase of Active Impulse Systems (AIS). Hanselman was the founder and CEO of AIS. Philips Analytical makes metrology systems. . . . Metrology equipment provider ADE has appointed A.K. Lum vp and gm of its semiconductor systems operations.

Transition Technology International, a distributor of silicon wafers, has named Mike Richardson QA manager of the company's new manufacturing unit, Silicon 2000. The company also appointed Michael Danylchuk to the new position of western regional manager and Joe Cavallo to East Coast regional manager. . . . The semiconductor equipment operations unit of Eaton has named Jeffrey Hebb principal scientist for the unit's thermal processing systems business. Hebb will oversee temperature measurement programs for the rapid thermal processor and fast-ramp vertical furnace product lines.

Frank Dickson has returned to Cahner's In-Stat Group following a stint as product manager for SpeedFam. Before joining SpeedFam, Dickson served as a semiconductor business analyst with In-Stat. . . . Cintas of Cincinnati has selected Brad Whitsel to serve as director of technical marketing for its cleanroom resources division. In 1997 Cintas acquired Micro-Clean Uniform Service, where Whitsel served as vp of technical operations. . . . The new director of information systems at Fluoroware is Cynthia Campbell. She is the former director of information systems at Storage.

Tosoh SMD, a manufacturer of sputtering targets, has appointed Mark Gore marketing manager, specialty products group. . . . Steve Kearns has joined the semiconductor chemical division of Jones-Hamilton as account manager. . . . Lois Wong Browning has been named product manager of Ashland Chemical's electronic chemicals division. Bartley Pitcock has been appointed marketing manager for the division's wet-process chemicals. . . . General Chemical has promoted Brad Klock to director of sales and marketing for its electronic chemicals group in Pittsburg, CA. . . . CAE Cleaning Technologies in Cincinnati has appointed Jay Nawani to vp, sales and marketing, for the new CAE cleaning technologies business unit. . . . Specialty chemicals supplier Tech Spray has hired Paul Salmon as European sales director.
